This fall was filled with many rainy, windy weekends that don’t make for good outdoor photoshoots. Luckily, the Marchinski family and I found time to squeeze a photo sesh into the final fall-vibes of the season. Styling is a big part of a photo shoot and Sarah took great attention to detail. Mom knocked their styling out of the park! Coordinating deep blue, green, and brown colors they chose for their outfits were just what we needed to make them pop surrounded by fall grasses and evergreen trees. While at the same time, their outfits were not too visually noisy or too bland and devoid of texture. Mom’s cable knit sweater, dad’s plaid shirt, and the boy’s corduroy pants all were subtle enough to feel warm and graceful, without becoming too visually noisy.

Golden hour is my favorite time to shoot, the warm glow from the setting sun has me obsessed with how these shots came out. Everyone’s skin glows in this light and it invokes the feeling of nostalgia. The shadows are not harsh and its easy to avoid the sun squints.

As with all my family shoots, we ended with letting the kids guide our captures. For these boys that looked like silly faces and a foot race up and down the hills. For Mom & Dad it looked like a spontaneous piggyback ride and lots of laughter. I truly love getting to spend time capturing these moments with families.

If you want more than just a few quick poses and would like to capture the unique personalities and charm of your family, I would love the opportunity to work with you. My calendar fills up pretty quick so even if you’re thinking of pictures several months form now, let’s get it on the books!
